Overview:

Kesterson is one of the founding partners of SKY Law.He specializes in immigration and labor law with extensive experience in labor and employment claims, collective bargaining negotiations, labor dispute resolution, illegal work stoppages and interruptions, labor audits, international secondments, and work visa and immigration requirements. He has appeared before the National Labor Relations Commission, the Department of Labor and Employment, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, and the Bureau of Immigration on behalf of clients. He also teaches at the University of the Philippines College of Law as a senior lecturer.

Kesterson worked as a lawyer at Angara Abello Concepcion Regala and Cruz, one of the Philippines’ largest law firms, where he handled labor issues and concerns for some of the country’s largest multinational corporations.

Overview:

Edson Sy specializes in a wide array of legal areas, including general corporate matters, foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, anti-trust, banking and finance, real estate, and renewable energy laws, among others. His expertise extends to advising clients on the formation, structuring, and incorporation of various entities in the Philippines. These include a diverse range of industries, such as business process outsourcing, logistics, manufacturing, real estate, renewable energy, and retail trade. His professional scope also encompasses managing the registration of foreign investments with the Board of Investments, Philippine Economic Zone Authority, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority, and Maritime Industry Authority, to name a few.

Edson has notably played a pivotal role in multiple acquisitions and sale of assets and shares involving both local and multinational companies. He has also served as counsel for the underwriters in connection with stock rights offering by listed companies. He regularly provides legal advice on compliance with anti-trust law and merger control requirements as set forth by the Philippine Competition Commission. His commitment to corporate governance is further exemplified by his role as a director and/or corporate secretary for various Philippine corporations.

In an academic capacity, Edson imparts his expertise and insights as a professorial lecturer at the Lyceum of the Philippines University – College of Law. Beyond his extensive legal practice, he also holds the distinction of being a licensed real estate broker, further enriching his multifaceted professional profile.

In 2023, Edson was a participant at the 58th Academy of American and International Law by the Southwestern Institute for International and Comparative Law at the Center for American and International Law in Plano, Texas, USA, wherein he was a recipient of the Vester Hughes Scholarship. In 2021, he took up courses on Innovation Management and FinTech at the École Supérieure Des Sciences Commerciales D’angers (ESSCA) – School of Management in Budapest, Hungary. In the same year, he also participated in the Winter Courses on International Law by The Hague Academy of International Law. In 2008, he took up courses on Chinese Studies at the Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province, China.

Overview:

Kurt Yeung assists local and multinational clients in registering, maintaining, and protecting their intellectual property portfolios. Michael Marlowe G. Uy

Overview:

Mr. Uy is a partner at SKY Law with a specialization in civil and criminal litigation, commercial and construction arbitration, and corporate law. He leverages his expertise to consistently deliver top-tier legal counsel and advocacy for a diverse clientele, both domestic and international.

He has secured favorable outcomes in cases involving commercial disputes, contract disputes, construction disputes, employment disputes, intellectual property disputes, asset recovery, and white-collar crime. He has also provided comprehensive legal advice and guidance to clients on mergers and acquisitions, construction contracts, real estate transactions, and data privacy compliance.

He is an accredited arbitrator and the Deputy Secretary General for Operations of the Philippine International Center for Conflict Resolution (PICCR). He is also a recognized (2nd level) ADR Practitioner in Arbitration by the Office for Alternative Dispute Resolution of the Department of Justice of the Philippines and is admitted to the Panel of Arbitrators of the Thailand Arbitration Center (THAC). He is also a Fellow of the Philippine Arbitration Center in the Visayas (PACV).

Ranked as a Next Generation Partner (2024) and cited as a Recommended Lawyer (2023 and 2024) in Dispute Resolution by The Legal 500, Mr. Uy is described by clients as “an excellent counsel” who offers “legal advice that is grounded on realities and practical application and “has the directness to truly guide a client to weigh their options”. Rogelio Benjamin J. Redoble

Overview:

Mr. Redoble is a Senior Associate of SKY Law. He specializes in taxation, estates and trusts, as well as wills and probate. Mr. Redoble has advised and represented clients on various tax concerns relating to, among others, banking and financial products and services, internet transactions, power generation, tax incentives of investment promotion agencies like PEZA, import and export including business process outsourcing, Regional Operating Headquarters (ROHQs), real estate, foreign investment and repatriation, estate planning and settlement, and local government taxation. He has successfully defended clients against billions of pesos worth of tax assessments, as well as criminal tax charges. He also gives advice on estate planning and settlement.

Mr. Redoble has also handled matters relating to asset acquisitions, share purchases, merger notifications with the Philippine Competition Commission, labor audits and litigation, the drafting and review of various contracts and agreements, as well as providing clients legal advice and assistance in relation to the day-to-day business needs of clients.

Prior to joining SKY Law, Mr. Redoble served as Chief of Staff of ANGKLA Party-List, the first maritime congressional party-list in the Philippines. He was also a Senior Associate and Department Monitor in the Tax Department of Angara Abello Concepcion Regala and Cruz, one of the largest law firms in the Philippines.  Mr Redoble was admitted to the Philippine Bar in 2013.

Overview:

John Yeung is a junior associate whose practice currently focuses on corporate and commercial transactions, and labor and employment matters.

John has participated in a number of labor law as well as corporate law matters. He has assisted in applications before government agencies such as the Securities and Exchange Commission. He drafted pleadings in criminal and labor cases. He participated in an arbitration case before Construction Industry Arbitration Commission. He also facilitated negotiations with San Miguel Corporation involving properties affected by the Metro Rail Transit 7 and Skyway Projects. 

During law school, John was invited to join the University of Philippines (UP) Law Bar Operations Commission (BOC) for the 2018 bar exam. He revised the UP BOC Special Proceedings Reviewer. As a law intern in UP Office of Legal Aid, he drafted and submitted numerous pleadings in several cases, did direct and redirect examinations, and assisted in formulating a legal defense that successfully resulted in the quashal of an information. For his work, he was nominated as one of the Outstanding Law Interns. 

John worked in a bank from 2011-2014 before entering law school.

Michael is a junior associate who passed the 2020/2021 Philippine Bar Examinations. He also provides legal advice to the Firm’s clients on various labor and employment issues. During his internship with the University of the Philippines Office of Legal Aid, Michael represented indigent litigants before the courts. Michael was also an intern at the University of the Philippines Law Internship Center. He had also previously been a Research Assistant for Professor JJ Disini, where his research was focused on Data Privacy and Fintech regulations.

Kathleen’s work in the firm includes drafting pleadings for civil, criminal, and special proceedings cases. She has handled labor, corporate acquisition, and estate settlement cases for the firm. She has also handled trademark registrations and applications for declaration of actual use in Intellectual Property matters. She conducts contract reviews for clients in the construction and food service industry, as well as prepares deeds, settlement documents, tax returns, and other legal documents. Before joining SKY Law in 2022, Kathleen was a legal intern at the University of the Philippines Office of Legal Aid where she assisted in drafting pleadings for indigent clients. She was an editorial intern for the Chairperson of Vol. 92 of the Philippine Law Journal. She was also a court intern at the Office of Supreme Court Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa and a legal intern at the Office of the Solicitor General where she assisted the State Solicitor.

Kirsten is a Junior Associate who passed the 2022 Philippine Bar Examinations. She took her Legal Internship at the Regional Trial Court, Branch 66, Makati City. She was also an intern with De La Salle University College of Law Legal Aid Clinic. Prior to pursuing a career in the legal industry, Kirsten worked as an Executive Chef under the Sumo Sam Group of Restaurants. Overview:

Shade is a Junior Associate who passed the 2023 Philippine Bar Examinations. Prior to pursuing a career in law, Shade earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from UP Manila, and subsequently worked as a Science Research Associate in the Marine Science Institute, working in the Conus Exogenomics Project under the Philippine Genome Center. While attending law school, Shade worked as Secretary to the Chief Executive of the local government unit of Maria, Siquijor. She took her legal internship at the Office of Legal Aid in UP Diliman, where she served as Team Leader and drafted various pleadings and motions, represented clients before the courts, assisted in preliminary investigations, and reviewed contracts and compromise agreements. Currently, Shade’s work for the firm includes drafting pleadings for civil, criminal and special proceedings cases, and responding to legal queries from clients. She has also handled labor and estate settlement cases, and due diligence projects for the firm.
